Inspiration Journey

A 2-day inspiration trip prior to the redesign of the IT landscape. 

Stadlander is a housing corporation in Bergen op Zoom. Stadlander is facing choices in their IT landscape. Prior to the market consultation, the organization wants to explore the opportunities. Stadlander is curious about the choices other companies have made and their experiences. We therefore went on a two-day inspiration trip to look behind the scenes at other organizations, both inside and outside the sector. The result: new knowledge to enter the market consultation well prepared and to make well-considered choices in the redesign of the IT-landscape.

Approach

To take the next step in redesigning the system landscape, we went on an Inspiration Journey. We started with an extensive discovery phase, in which we gained insight into Stadlander’s specific questions and we defined themes. Based on these themes, we created a customized inspiration program.

With a broad group of delegates from both IT and operations, we looked behind the scenes at eight organizations. These organizations varied in size and sector, but all had a case that was relevant to Stadlander. In interactive presentations, experts shared their insights and experiences. Next to this, demos were given to get a good idea of what the IT-landschape looked like at these organizations.

During the Inspiration Journey we continuously translated the inspiration we gained to the context of Stadlander through sharp reflection and discussion. On the last afternoon, we converted the insights to actions. To secure the lessons, an inspiration booklet was created with a summary of each speaker and the most important insights.

Result

As a result of the inspiration journey, Stadlander is well prepared for the market consultation. The organization is now able to make well-considered decisions around the new design of the IT landscape. In addition, the inspiration booklet forms a ‘manual’ that can be continuously consulted when making future choices in the system landscape.

The inspiration journey has led to, among other things:

  • Understanding the relevance of functionalities and IT systems to the organization;
  • Learning from challenges that other companies have encountered in similar processes;
  • Insight into the important aspects to include in the market consultation and the essential questions to ask suppliers;
  • A new direction in the approach to achieve an efficient system landscape;
  • A shared enthusiasm and confidence to pursue the new direction together;
  • Mutual connection between participants and a shared view on direction and choices.
