The House of Representatives elections are just around the corner. Leading up to it, political parties are trying to convince you even more to give your vote to them. In addition to the debates on TV and the campaigns on the streets, your online behavior is also extensively studied in order to display specific political messages to you. Political microtargeting is called that.

We speak with Brahim Zarouali, a researcher at the University of Amsterdam, about how political parties use algorithms to specify ads, the impact this has on election results, and what steps we need to take in the Netherlands to deal with algorithms.
